ABOUT ME | PASSIONS
Those who know me well will tell you that I am passionate about many things. Incorporating these into my life makes my life fuller and richer and more enjoyable.
One of my passions is being creative. I remember adding illustrations and decorating my assignments in biology class when I was about 11 or 12 years old. That was probably the first time I really started to enjoy drawing and being creative. My Mom recognized this and encouraged me to take some art classes in high school to strengthen my abilities. Having talent is one thing, but actually putting it to good use through great instruction in high school and college is another. I feel very fortunate to be able to use my creativity every day and make a living from it. Whether I'm putting a pencil to paper, paintbrush to canvas or using a mouse on the computer, it's a great feeling to be able to create a piece of art that people enjoy and I enjoy making.
Being from a sports orientated family, Mom and Dad played field hockey, I got into sports at a young age. I joined or I should say my Mom signed me up at a soccer club when I was 5 years old. I became a decent player as the years went on and I loved the competition and being part of a team and sharing in the emotions that go with it. Soccer became one of my passions. Besides the love for the game, it is the competition on the field and the struggle to always play well and improve my game that keeps me coming back for more. As an athlete I enjoy playing and watching many sports, but I would be heart-broken if I had to give up playing soccer for any reason.
The great thing about life is that there is always something new to learn and appreciate every day. Hopefully we enrich our lives with this new found knowledge and use it to inspire others. A passion of mine that I developed later on in life was not one that I really expected to love as much as I do now. When I lived at home, meals were always made by my Grandmother or Mom. I made myself breakfast once in a while, but I never made a meal from scratch. Of course, when I moved into my own place I couldn't really bring my Grandmother or mom with me, so I had to start making meals on my own. In the beginning I tried to stick with simple dishes that didn't require a lot of preparation time, but I did enjoy being in the kitchen. As time went on I started getting more adventurous with food and adding more recipes to my book. It became apparent to me how similar cooking and art is. It is the idea of taking elements and combining them to create something that is rewarding, fulfilling and in the case of food, delicious. Cooking became on of my passions. The thing I love about my passions is that each one expresses some part of who I am and will keep on evolving into the future.
